I recently attended a one hour presentation titled “Are you Generationally Savvy” by Anna Liotta of Resultance Inc. It was absolutely fascinating to me, and so relevant in these times of multi generational workplaces. Anna Liotta is smart, witty, engaging, and clearly knows her subject. I was nodding my head constantly as she took us through some key points; learning more about how other generations perform in the workplace, why they prefer a certain way of communicating and how to effectively work and understand your multi-generational peers. I was intrigued to learn about the traditionalists, (born 1927-1945), only 7% of the workforce who are extremely loyal to their employers and believe in discipline in the workplace. Baby Boomers, (born 1946-1964), are 42% of the workforce, very driven, optimistic and challenge authority . . . something a traditionalist would never think of doing. Then we have our Gen-Xers, (born 1965-1977), who are very independent, self starters, resourceful and prefer that you “skip to bottom line of what you need from me Dude!” via text or email. Then we have the Millennials, (born 1978-1999) . . . technology, technology, technology. They have an iPhone in one hand, type on a mac book with the other, all while battling 1 dude in China and 1 in Amsterdam to be the deadliest soldier on Call of Duty 4, huh! They are realistic, confident and want to collaborate on all their projects. Interesting! These are the people you work with . . . get to know them, figure out the best way to help each other work smart. Visit Resultance, Inc.com and peruse all of Anna’s services from seminars, to training and consulting. You may also want to pick up her Generationally Savvy Cliff Notes, and attract, grow and retain top talent and loyal clients of all ages. You will be captivated, I know I was.

Well, we went, we sunned, we swam, we frolicked, we shopped, we danced, we cooked, we drank (some of us more than others) we laughed, we cried, especially when we had to go home; BUT! It was everything we thought it would be, AND MORE! Of course I’m talking about our latest jaunt down south to the fabulous Coral Sands Resort in Palm Springs, CA. Our hostess, the fabulous Ms. Ruby Montana (Motelier to the stars, and the not so starish) was every bit the hostess with the mostess. We felt spoiled and privileged, yes privileged. If you have ever stayed at a cold impersonal, overpriced hotel in Palm Springs, or anywhere else for that matter, then had the sense to stay at Ruby’s Coral Sands, then yes my darling, you know privilege. It was hard to tear ourselves away, especially from Lola, (high faluntin’ security dog), and Dusty, (the ever so cautious and careful poolside pup), and if Ms. Billie Holiday, (new family pup at the sands), had arrived while I was there, well, hmmmmm… ”What’s that monthly rate again Rube?”. So we wait, we dream, and we pinch pennies for our next glorious time at the Coral Sands Resort, and until then we have our beautiful, (some raunchy), memories . . . Oh! and snapshots of course, (blackmail material, really). Until next time…

Experience a new wine tasting & fashion event concept at the swanky confines of the Westin Hotel in Seattle on the afternoon of Sunday March 15th. This exciting event is similar to the extremely popular sold-out “Sips & Shoes” event last November. If you love purses, handbags, and wine, you’ll love “Bags & Bottles,” and also help raise money for Gilda’s Club of Seattle, a support center for those living with cancer and their families, founded in honor of Gilda Radner after her death from ovarian cancer.
Women who attend this fundraiser are encouraged to bring a new or almost new purse for the silent auction portion of the event. Tables in the middle of the ballroom will display 300 of these bags. The perimeter will feature a host of boutique stores with their most current bag & purse designs on display and Northwest wineries pouring an array of their delicious wines, and of course, firefighters will be on hand to sell and sign their 2009 Calendars!
