Are you Generationally Savvy? AND, what does that mean exactly
I recently attended a one hour presentation titled “Are you Generationally Savvy” by Anna Liotta of Resultance Inc. It was absolutely fascinating to me, and so relevant in these times of multi generational workplaces. Anna Liotta is smart, witty, engaging, and clearly knows her subject. I was nodding my head constantly as she took us through some key points; learning more about how other generations perform in the workplace, why they prefer a certain way of communicating and how to effectively work and understand your multi-generational peers. I was intrigued to learn about the traditionalists, (born 1927-1945), only 7% of the workforce who are extremely loyal to their employers and believe in discipline in the workplace. Baby Boomers, (born 1946-1964), are 42% of the workforce, very driven, optimistic and challenge authority . . . something a traditionalist would never think of doing. Then we have our Gen-Xers, (born 1965-1977), who are very independent, self starters, resourceful and prefer that you “skip to bottom line of what you need from me Dude!” via text or email. Then we have the Millennials, (born 1978-1999) . . . technology, technology, technology. They have an iPhone in one hand, type on a mac book with the other, all while battling 1 dude in China and 1 in Amsterdam to be the deadliest soldier on Call of Duty 4, huh! They are realistic, confident and want to collaborate on all their projects. Interesting! These are the people you work with . . . get to know them, figure out the best way to help each other work smart. Visit Resultance, Inc.com and peruse all of Anna’s services from seminars, to training and consulting.
