I just ran in from a long day at the SHOP 08 & CRAVE seminar series today at the Seattle Center. 1st of all, let me just say that I went because it advertised professionals speaking about advertising, marketing, promoting and networking your business, especially websites. I am an optimist (most of the time) and hope I will come away from something like this with just one little tid bit that made it worthwhile. WELL, I am so pleased to report that they served what they had on the menu. It was great! I seriously came away with new direction and inspiration. Their panel members were experts on web design, marketing, advertising, mass email marketing, business networking, PR, and so much more. I do have to toot my own horn for just a sec though and say I felt a teeny bit superior sitting there in some sessions listening to all their advise, because I have implemented (under the guidance of my GURU, Jill Olkoski of Aldebaran Website Design) 5 out of 6 of the experts suggestions website must haves. Getting your Blog on your site, and using WORDPRESS for it, SEO (I know what that means because of Jill), keywords, incoming links, google ad-words and so much more. I am very pleased with what I learned today, but if I hadn’t been for (you know who) my GURU, I think some of it could have sounded like Japanese. I especially want to acknowledge a little owned company here in Edmonds, WA called MYSAVVYSPACE a resource website geared toward non-techie and sorta-techie professionals with a vested financial interest to having a social networking presence. Cool Huh? They are my next venture. I really think they can help me build a networking/blogging system that I can maintain myself (without working on it 24/7 and forgetting to eat dinner)and really target my audience. Yippee CRAVE!

Handbags, we all love em’ can’t get enough of em’ and really? “are we ever truly satisfied with our bag?” No, I don’t think so. Oh maybe when we 1st load her up and take her out for a spin at the next gal pal get together to be greeted jealously with the “ouuuu’s and ahh’s”, but then the sparkle wears off and your just left to diggin’ in it for that lost item. Really, we’re just fickle and alittle greedy. We want more, more, more. “Oooooouuu that yellow one, oh girl look at that green one!” I for one love to change out my handbag once a month, sometimes more, shhhhh, because some like to change their bag weekly, and then there are the ones who like to change theirs out everyday, crazy? I don’t know, but really who has the time? Seriously, we are always on the prowl, endlessly seraching for that next super cute bag to give us that umph! to give us that approving nod from our chick posse as well as total strangers. And if only to be satisfied for a minute, for a day, for a week, and then to be tossed aside for the next cutie. Even if you’re a bag hag that needs functionality above style, you too are always searching! In style magazine has a fun article showing us “in your bag”, check out all the different styles of bags we carry and the can’t live without goodies we toss in everyday, just to build and build to a whole lotta craposis! Instyle also featured actress Rose McGowan’s Pinken Mint purse caddy, which I for one think is fabulous because of it’s ingenious use on the airplane flip down tray. I swear I wrench my neck everytime I fly trying to retreive my bag from under the seat in front of me. I’m getting one, now! Anyway, wether your style is big roomy bags or small intimate pocket books, handbags, handbags, handbags, gotta have em’ love to love to love em’ and must find the next one! If you, like me, have a slightly shallow obsession for purses, God help you! or let me help you, hee hee…take a look, try one out, my buyers are always very pleased with their purchase, I do not lie, especially about bags! Happy shopping ~ Katie “happy to be a bag hag” Kay

Magical Mantel features Cody Foster, Bethany Lowe, Walnut Ridge and other vintage look goodies. Beautiful Cody Foster Trees and Pedestals, Bethany Lowe Icicle Trim, Queen of my Heart Prints and Candles, and FG & Co. make a magical and cozy Christmas nook.
Well Christmas is over once again, another year gone by. It’s so fun to put it all up and so hard to take it all down. I love the look of the house at Christmas, it seems to sparkle and glow all on it’s own even when the lights are not lit. Cody Foster is a big part of my decor for Christmas and every year I add something new from his collection. Next year I am adding a few new holiday lines to compliment my Cody Foster, Bethany Lowe, Walnut Ridge , KD Vintage and Boardwalk Originals collections. This month I will be buying Midwest of Cannon Falls, Raz, & Katherine’s Collection for Christmas 2008. They are all beautiful and have the vintage reproduction look me and all my customers love. I thought I would share a few pictures of mine and my sister’s holidays decorations with you. She recently had a photo shoot of her shop and house with Mary Engelbreits Home Companion magazine for an upcoming issue. Take a look at her amazing, wonderful shop, Maxine’s. Enjoy the lovely photos, and shop my seasonal category, there are still a few gorgeous items left. Enjoy free shipping too. Happy New Year!
